The engagements were aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s military cooperation globally and advancing the Federal Government’s policy of attracting foreign direct investment into the country’s defence sector. Dr. Matawalle extended formal invitations to multinational defence companies to establish production facilities and joint ventures in Nigeria, with a focus on technology transfer, local capacity building, and job creation.

As part of the official programme, the Honourable Minister also conducted an on-site inspection of Türkiye’s domestically produced warship, combat helicopters, and aircraft carriers, assessing their operational capabilities and potential areas for collaboration with the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Speaking after the inspection, Dr. Matawalle stated:
> “Our objective is clear — to position Nigeria not just as a consumer of defence equipment, but as a regional hub for defence manufacturing and innovation. We welcome credible partners who are ready to invest, build, and grow with us in Nigeria.”
