## **Nollywood Awaits Powerful Debut as *Avante* Heads for March 29 Grand Premiere

The Nigerian film industry is gearing up for a major cinematic event as the much-anticipated movie *Avante* prepares for its exclusive grand premiere on Sunday, March 29, 2026. With excitement steadily mounting across Nollywood circles, the production is already being described by industry insiders as one of the most emotionally compelling releases expected this year.

Leading the cast is acclaimed actor Chimezie Imoh, widely praised for his unforgettable role in the film The Breath of Life. A recipient of the Trailblazer Award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Imoh has built a reputation for portraying deeply layered characters with striking emotional authenticity. In *Avante*, he takes on another demanding role that promises to showcase his remarkable range and intensity.

Joining him is Kingsley Okafor, recognized for his performance in the drama series Marriage Stunts, which streamed on Amazon Prime Video in the United States. In *Avante*, Okafor steps into the role of a ruthless General whose earlier life as a Colonel was defined by brutal decisions that left devastation in their wake. His character is expected to bring significant tension and moral complexity to the storyline.

Also part of the ensemble is Patience Ujah, who rose to prominence through her role as Seyken in Seasons 1 and 2 of the television series Halita on Africa Magic. Her expanding filmography includes appearances in Eagle Wings, Katangari Goes to Town, and the series Dear Future Me, reflecting her growing reputation as one of Nollywood’s versatile talents.

The film further features Eddie Watson, a well-known presence across African cinema. His acting credits include the Netflix production The Waiter and appearances connected to the reality franchise The Real Housewives of Abuja on Showmax, along with numerous other television and digital projects that have made him a familiar face to audiences across the continent.

Another cast member is Maliya, recognized for roles in YouTube series and Nollywood productions such as Laurie, The Slave Husband, and Muna. Completing the prominent lineup is Cameroonian actress, writer, and producer Ruth Nkweti, known for her performances in Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, Ejiro’s Lust, and Last Tango in Abuja. Beyond acting, Nkweti is widely recognized for her advocacy and commitment to socially conscious storytelling.

Directing the project is celebrated filmmaker Toka McBaror, whose notable works include Dark October, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, and Kada River, the latter earning recognition at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival. His film Lotanna also received multiple accolades at the Golden Movie Awards, including Best Film and Best Director, cementing his reputation as a filmmaker with strong cinematic vision.

At the heart of *Avante* is a gripping narrative shaped by revenge and complicated by love. The story follows Gaju, a man driven by vengeance who assumes the identity of Albert, a humble farmhand, in order to infiltrate the estate of the man responsible for the murder of his parents. However, his carefully planned mission takes an unexpected turn when he falls in love with the killer’s daughter, forcing him into a difficult choice between revenge and the possibility of redemption.

Industry watchers say the upcoming premiere is expected to attract leading figures across the entertainment landscape, including filmmakers, actors, executives, and cultural commentators. The event is already being positioned as more than a routine film launch, but rather a gathering that reflects Nollywood’s growing influence and creative momentum.

As the countdown to March 29 continues, *Avante* appears set to deliver not just another cinematic release, but a film that could leave a lasting impression on audiences while contributing meaningfully to the evolving storytelling tradition of Nollywood in 2026.
