Open Letter to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR from Rescue Movement Delta State Chapter
Dear Mr. President,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention the deplorable state of the Benin-Warri Road, a critical infrastructure project that has been under rehabilitation for some time. As you may be aware, this road is a vital conduit for trade and commerce, connecting key economic hubs in Benin City and Warri.
The current state of the road is a nightmare for road users, causing significant delays, damage to vehicles, and loss of lives. Despite the efforts of contractors, the project has been plagued by delays and non-performance. I humbly appeal to your Excellency to intervene in this matter and ensure that the contractors are well-mobilized to deliver the project within the contract duration.
Key Benefits of the Benin-Warri Road:
- Promotes trade and commerce between Benin City and Warri
- Connects key economic hubs, facilitating the movement of workers and supplies
- Supports daily life and travel for employment, education, healthcare, and other personal needs
- Enhances regional integration and economic cohesion
- Holds historical significance, connecting two important cultural hubs
Progress Report:
The project has seen some progress, with the Edo State Government assuming responsibility for a 23km stretch of the road. However, more needs to be done to complete the project and alleviate the suffering of road users.
Our Appeal:
1. We humbly request that the contractors handling the Benin-Warri Road be well-mobilized to enable them to deliver the project within the contract duration.
2. We appeal to your Excellency to direct the contractors to open up sections of the road that have been completed to ease vehicular movement and transportation of goods.
Conclusion:
We sincerely appreciate your attention to this matter and hope that your prompt intervention will avert the continued loss of lives, damage to properties, and wastage of manhours. We look forward to your delivery on your campaign promises of improved infrastructure development.
Thank you, Mr. President.
Sincerely,
Comrade John Ebikeme Odubolu
