SACKED DICON DG: OPEN LETTER TO HEAD OF CIVIL SERVICE OF THE FEDERATION

JUBILATION ERUPTS IN DEFENCE INDUSTRIES CORPORATION OF NIGERIA (DICON) OVER THE SACK OF MAJOR GENERAL EDET ANIEDI AS DG DICON

The recent announcement of the sack of the Director General of DICON has sparked widespread jubilation among staff, and rightfully so. For years, workers have endured a reign marked by arrogance, abuse of power, and blatant disregard for the rules and ethos of public service.

Under the former DG's leadership, the agency became a theatre of oppression, where the basic rights of staff were trampled upon. His administration was notorious for flouting public service rules with impunity, wielding power as a tool of intimidation rather than service. Staff lived in constant fear, subjected to harsh and unjust disciplinary actions, including the shocking incident of detaining employees in a police cell for a week over trivial internal matters—a gross misuse of power and a stain on the dignity of civil service.

The DG's high-handedness alienated employees and bred a toxic work environment. His leadership was also riddled with nepotism, tribalism, and favoritism, where promotions and privileges were awarded not on merit, but on the basis of tribe, personal connections, or loyalty to his authority. This unjust system crushed morale and stifled productivity.

The sack of this DG is not only a relief but a long-overdue correction that restores hope in the principles of justice, equity, and accountability in public administration. It sends a strong message that no one is above the law, and that the civil service must be led by individuals who embody humility, fairness, and respect for institutional rules.

We commend the authorities for this bold and necessary action and call for a thorough review of the injustices suffered under his tenure. Let this be the beginning of a new chapter where every civil servant can work in dignity and peace in Dicon
