Kenrry Ibekwe calls on IPAC to correct impunity, illegality of Isaac Udeh
...Tells IPAC to recognize him as Abia State Publicity Secretary
The authentic National Rescue Movement (NRM) Abia State Chairman, Dr. Kenrry C. O. Ibekwe who is validly recognized by the National Officials of the party as well as the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on the Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) to honour their resolution over the impunity of the former National Chairman of the party NRM, Mr. Isaac Udeh, who had given a letter, forged with the signature of the then Acting National Secretary to one Mr. Joseph Ulu, to masquerade as the Abia State Chairman of the party (NRM), thereby laying claim to the position of the office of Abia State IPAC Publicity Secretary won by the party (NRM), thereby to be occupied by the authentic State Chairman of NRM.
A letter made available to pressmen written by IPAC national office, dated November 18, 2024 and titled, "Report of IPAC Appeal Committee State Elections For 2024 (Abia State)" addressed to Abia State IPAC Chairman, and jointly signed by IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf M. Dantalle and IPAC National Secretary, Barr. Maxwell Mgbudem reads as follows:
"Recall that following the outcome of Abia State IPAC election conducted on the 17th February, 2024, Mr. Kenrry C.O Ibekwe of National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Abia State petitioned the IPAC Appeal Committee State Elections. The background facts and complaints are as follows:
"That Mr. Kenrry C.O Ibekwe of National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Abia State contested for the office of Publicity Secretary in the Abia State IPAC election conducted on the 17th February, 2024.
"That Mr. Ibekwe complained that the electoral committee screened and cleared one Mr. Joseph Ulu, who claimed to be his Party Chairman in the State.
"He stated that this was done against the confirmation by the HOD EPM that he (Mr. Ibekwe) is the Chairman of the Party based on the record in the Commission.
"He claimed that the letter which
Ulu paraded was forged and that the Party leadership had formally complained to INEC ahead of the IPAC election
"Committee Resolution:
"The committee noted that the NRM had earlier on petitioned INEC and IPAC that Mr. Udeh forged the signature of the Party Acting National Secretary to attempt to remove State Chairmen of the party contrary to the party constitution.
"IPAC National Chairman investigated and discovered that INEC declined Udeh's request due to the forged signature. Therefore, there was no change of NRM Chairmen in any State, including
Abia State. Therefore, the NRM Chairman in Abia State is Dr. Kenrry C. O. Ibekwe as reiterated by Abia EPM during the said election.
"Accordingly, the position of the State Publicity Secretary won by NRM should be reserved for Dr. Kenrry C. O. Ibekwe, being the authentic State Chairman of NRM.
"In line with the committee report and the approval of the Council, I am to communicate for your immediate implementation, the Inter Party Advisory Council directive as
follows:
"1. That the position of the State Publicity Secretary won by NRM should be reserved for Dr. Kenrry C. O. Ibekwe, being the authentic State Chairman of NRM.
"2. That the certificate of return and recognition erroneously accorded to Mr. Joseph Ulu be withdrawn with immediate effect and certificate of return and recognition be accorded to Dr. Kenrry C. O. Ibekwe as the State Publicity Secretary of IPAC."
Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as Dr. Kenrry Ibekwe, Chairman, NRM, Abia State were copied.
But according to Ibekwe, "the Abia State leadership of IPAC had deliberately refused to implement the directive given to them and to call the impostor masquerading as NRM Abia State Chairman to order.
"This is an infringement on my fundamental human right as well as an interference on our internal party administration. The leadership of IPAC in Abia is aiding impostor by accepting someone who is not a member of our party to the office of IPAC Publicity Secretary of the state.
"It would appear as though it is a strategy to divert what is the right of the part in the state. Therefore, this impunity despite repeated chats, calls and letters to IPAC in Abia State.
"At a point, they said that they were waiting for INEC Umuahia for directives. At another time the said they were waiting for my party national leadership to write them.
"Now that it is finally proven beyond any reasonable and even unreasonable doubt that I am the authentic State Chairman of NRM in Abia State, what are they waiting for?" he inquires rhetorically.
Hence, Ibekwe calls on Abia State IPAC to comply with the fact proven beyond any shadow of doubt as well as the directive from IPAC national and recognize him as the Publicity Secretary of IPAC in Abia State.
