Professor Umar Pate, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Kashere, in Gombe State, is billed to deliver a paper on media and national security at the maiden edition of TGNews Awards.
The erudite scholar who holds the traditional title of Kaigamman Adamawa will himself be conferred with a merit award of excellence during the occasion.
A statement by Mohammed Ismail, the chairman publicity sub-committee noted that the event is scheduled to hold on January 6, 2024.
He added that the theme for the lecture, “media and national security; the way forward” is deliberately chosen in view of the need to broaden conversations on the portents of social media on national security with a view to chart a way forward.
Top politicians, technocrats, traditional, religious leaders and even ordinary Nigerians will be given the award in view of their contributions to nation building and national security.
According to Ismail, the award is meant to recognize and reward, merit, excellence, talent dedication and exceptional service delivery.
“The award which is classified into four distinct categories will serve as a morale booster for individuals to strive for excellence knowing that such strides are being noted and recorded.
“The four categories for the award include; award for excellence in leadership, meritorious service award, award for dedication and quality service and unsung heroes award,” he said.
According to Ismail, TGNews which started operations eight years ago has blazed the trail in the areas of providing factual and investigative news reportage making it one of the most viable source of news and reports not only in Adamawa State but the north east and Nigeria in general.
He noted that the news portal is currently repositioning itself to be a formidable force in multimedia operations that will compete favourably with other multimedia outlets across the globe.
