Police Shot Keke Passenger for kicking Against Extortion
A police man attached to Kabala West Division has shot one Usman Saeed Abdullahi popularly known as Baffa, a staff of KAEDCO, Nasarawa/Tirkania office, Kaduna.
Usman boarded a Keke Napep to office morning of Thursday 29th November 2023 through the Kaduna Bye pass. While on transit at exactly Kabala there was a checking point mounted by the police.
The police were busy extorting money from Keke drivers with the pretence of Checking point. Refusal of the Keke driver to give them the 50 naira, the police drove after them from Kabala junction up to Unguwan Mu'azu, using their vehicle to blocked the Keke and which led both the Keke and passengers to fall down.
The victim complained that it is not fair blocked them that even led the Keke falling. Following the conversation between the duo, the police shot at the victim Usman Saeed Abdullahi and vacate the place without taking any measure to save his life, leaving him in pool of blood.
The community living in the area immediately swung into action by volunteering and rush the victim to St Gerald Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna around 9 am same day where the victim undergo a six hours theatre. He is presently receiving treatment and the police have refused to make any commitment to help the parents financially or assure the parents of doing justice to them.
The councillor of Kabala West as immediately instructed by the Kaduna South Local Government Chairman take care of the medication so as to ease the tension of people who want to protest against the sad incident.
The Kabala DPO visited the hospital saying that his office doesn't have enough money to take care of the victim. As of now he has taking 9 pint of blood.
The parents are appealing for justice against the deadly act. The police should be brought to book to serve as deterrent to others.
