ASATTAHIR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION (AIF) DISTRIBUTES MEAL PACKS ,HYGIENE KITS TO 1000 INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDPs) , VULNERABLE GROUPS IN SOKOTO
ASATTAHIR International Foundation (AIF) distributed food packs and hygiene kits to 1000 internally displaced persons and vulnerable groups in Ramin Kura IDP camp, Gwiwa Eka IDP settlement and other locations in the state. These events took place on Sunday, 24th December, 2023.
This is part of the Foundation's commitment to swiftly cushion the unbearable impact of displacements caused by insecurity, disaster, climate change and economic hardships. This gesture was part of the Foundation's mission to always prioritize in responding to both short and long term needs of the affected populations which mostly comprise new arrivals at IDP camps and those residing in the host communities such as women, children, adolescent girls and the elderly.
In the process of executing this gesture, ASATTAHIR International Foundation worked closely with representatives of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development as well as the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Sokoto state who phyaically witnessed the distribution exercise.
Similarly, AIF also conducted WASH sensitization to adolescent girls, the elderly and nursing mothers in Ramin Kura IDP camp. The adolescent girls benefited from free sanitary pads while nursing mothers and the elderly received bathing soaps and Vaseline.
AIF's team was led by the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees Aliyu Sidi Attahiru who expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the IDPs and assured the Foundation's continued support at all times. The chairman further reiterate the Foundation's determination to continue to respond to emergency situations that are basically of humanitarian concerned when and wherever necessary. He added that despite focus on emergency reliefs, the Foundation equally engage in recovery support to critical needy persons who have become relatively relieved.
Further, the Foundation's Executive Secretary, Prof. YahayaTanko Baba highlights the operational scope of the Foundation and thereby emphasis on the need for more plans and policies for the target IDP beneficiaries. In her words, the Foundation's Legal Adviser Barrister Rashidat Muhammed enlightened the benficiaries on the need for good evironmental and body hygiene. Also, part of the team of ASATTAHIR International Foundation who actively participated in occasion of this distribution, is Dr Garba Ibrahim of the department of Linguistics, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto who is also a volunteer member of AIF, among many other members of the Foundation who equally participated.
