Grassroot Ambassadors Commend Ex NNPP Chair, Prof. Alkali's Decision for Dumping party for APC
Group under aegis of Grassroot Ambassadors has hailed the decision of the former National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali to dump his party and join the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Recalled that no fewer than 26 chieftains of the New Nigeria People’s Party, including three governorship candidates, and the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Prof Rufa’i Alkali, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress recently.
The group,which expressed optimism that Prof. Alkali will no doubt bring to bare his wealth of experience as a profound nationalist; democrat and elderstatesman to ensure that President Tinubu's renewed Hope Agenda becomes an impactful reality, urged the ruling party to tap from his wealth of experience.
In a statement signed by the President of Grassroot Ambassadors, Comrade Abdullahi Ahmed President and Engr. Aina Bolade ,Director Planning/Strategy the group identified dearth of leadership as a major cog in wheel of progress of the country in addition to persons with passion to serve selflessly.
But noted unequivocally that the ruling party APC will now bite harder in the area policy implementation with arrow heads such as ,Prof Alkali that have joined the league of "Brains" in the APC's government.
While stating that decision of Prof. alkali and others to dump the NNPP was a well thought-out one since the party had been allegedly hijacked and polluted by members of the Kwankwasiya political movement led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the group however tasked leadership of APC to capitalize on the influence and capacity of defectors to push for a better Nigeria.
Speaking further on his inherent Leadership traits, the Grassroot Ambassadors recalled Alkali's consummate communication skill and unique publicity strategy systematically transformed the image of the PDP he inherited in 2008.
Adding , "Alkali helped revived and pushed back into national consciousness, through the media whose friendship he warmly cultivated, and ensured that the PDP’s vision and mission as a ‘‘people oriented, issued based and democratic political party remains constant in the minds of all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.
"He is an accomplished scholar, researcher, author, publisher, writer and media friendly personality per excellence. The NUJ, Abuja Council conferred on him a Special Award as the Most Media Friendly Personality 2011. In a rare show of recognition, the NUJ, Abuja FCT Council again conferred on Professor Rufai Alkali a Special Leadership Award in 2016.
"In the same year, in October 2016, the Gombe State Government presented to him a Certificate of Honour in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the creation and development of Gombe State, while the Nigerian Society of Pease Studies and Practice also conferred on him Fellowship in 2018."
Meanwhile, the group said the youth are fully in support of his decision to defect at this critical moment when Nigeria needs committed leaders and therefore urged the federal government to tap into Alkali's repository leadership and management knowledge to resolve our plethora of economic and security challenges .
