Kaduna Guber Race: Makarfi Ambassadors Warn Religious Leaders Against Preaching Division, Acrimony in Worship Places

Ahead of the Saturday Governorship election in Kaduna , Group under aegis of Makarfi Ambassadors has called on religious leaders to shun rhetoric that promotes hate, division, and acrimony among the people.

According to the group, the deep involvement of clerics as agents of political mobilisation is an unfortunate event that has created undue  tension in the state .

In a press statement Jointly signed by Mr. Abdullahi Ahmed,Coordinator General-Matters, and Engr. Bolade Aina, Coordinator Planning/Strategy of  the Makarfi Ambassadors, the group warned against clerics using their places of worship as  platforms to preach politics of division and hatred.

The statement reeads: "We want them to know that in every election, there must be losers and winners. It is God who decides who should be a winner no matter what we feel or think.”

"We therefore  urge these groups of  religious leaders to comport themselves in a decent manner as the state approaches another election this week."

The Makarfi Ambassadors however, called on these religious leaders  in the state to rather use their power to educate the congregants to shun ethnic and religious politics.

"We cannot afford a religious war in this state where multi-religion and ethnicity are practised."it added .

Meanwhile it lamented, "It is unfortunate that desperate politicians have resort using divisive strategies rather than usual campaign mode  to exploit the places of worship for their selfish reasons.

"It is expected that  people look up to religious leaders for guidance and motivation that guaranteed a united, equitable, and prosperous society, where the rights and privileges of all are guaranteed."

The group equally called on Kaduna citizens, especially the electorate to come out en masse to vote the main opposition party , PDP's candidates across the state on Saturday , March 18.

Stressing," A vote for Isa Ashiru/John Ayuba is a vote for liberation of Kaduna from shackles of high handed government".
